Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (1866-1925) was the democratic revolutionary republican leader who led the struggle against the tyrannical Ching Dynasty, opening the door to democratic advance in feudal China. In October 1911 after spearheading ten uprisings, the successful Wuchang Uprising brought victory for the republic. Sun Yat-Sen was its first provisional president. His statue in Riverdale Park East is full-sized on a massive plinth.
