FUGITIVE SLAVE CEMETERY

John Freeman Walls Historic Site and Underground Railroad Museum, Town of Lakeshore,  from Windsor (take Exit 28 north on Highway 401 to 859 Puce Road).

Forty family members, friends and fugitive slaves lie buried here in the Walls Family Cemetery. The Walls family travelled through Windsor to Puce in Essex County and have lived here for five generations. The site is now a museum operated by the Proverbs Heritage Organization. It tells the story of their escape to Canada West. The buildings include a Peace Chapel.
