LAKE ERIE FISHERMEN

Memorial sculpture at the end of the town pier in Lake Erie, Port Dover.

The Fishermen’s Memorial was erected in 2000 by the Eastern Lake Erie Fishermen’s Association. It lists the 28 local commercial fishermen who lost their lives in the waters of Lake Erie from the early 20th century to 1991. The Monument is topped by a bronze sculpture by Kathryn Hogg, an artist from Waterford. It was paid for by public subscription. There is information about many of the individuals that it memorializes in the Port Dover Harbour Museum nearby.
