DAVID
WILLSON
Gravestone,
Children of Peace Burying Ground, east side of Leslie Street, south
of SharonTemple, in East Gwillimbury. The gravestone is in the
southwest corner of the graveyard.
David Willson (1778-1866) was the
leader of the
Children of Peace, who erected Sharon Temple. Willson supported
William Lyon Mackenzie’s politics in general, but did not
agree
with the uprising. However, his sons and others did participate in
the Rebellion, and Samuel Lount recruited from among these young
farmers.
